Hawaiian Fabric Inlay Instructions:
1. Some fabric colors may run when Polyester resin is applied. To help eliminate
this, soak the fabric in
white vinegar and let dry. Iron flat if needed.
2. Mask off the desired pattern on the foam using 2 layers of tape. Make sure
the tape covers any areas around the rails that
may be exposed to drips.
3. Fit the fabric and cut so the fabric overlaps the tape 1/'2" or more.
Keep in place before the next step.
4. Resin Application: Sun
Cure laminating resin will penetrate the fabric well and can be
used with this application. It is
preferred by most due to your ability to control the curing process. Next:
Roll back the fabric and leave in place.
Squeegee a thin coat of resin over the foam. Slowly roll the fabric back over
the cloth keeping it in place. Squeegee
a thin coat of resin on top and work in until the tape edge shows through
the top and the fabric is completley saturated.
If you notice any additional colors running, simply squeegee off.
5. Let the resin cure to a soft, trimmable state. Use a sharp razorblade and
trim along the raised tape edge. Once cured,
continue with the lamination process.
